Letter #34

The strong man is the one who is happy when this world leaves his hands, departs from him and flees from him, and he is happy when people blame him and accuse him. He is content with it because of his knowledge of Allāh. Shāykh Ibn Atā’illāh, may Allāh be pleased with him, said in his Hikām, “if you are pained because people do not turn to you, or direct blame towards you, then go back to the knowledge of Allāh in you. If you are not content with His knowledge, then your affliction by your lack of contentment with His knowledge is worse than your affliction by their abuse. Abuse is channeled through them so that you will not rely on them. He wants to rouse you and move you away from everything so that nothing distracts you from Him.

Peace.

— Sāyyidi Shāykh Māwlay al-Arābi ad-Darqāwi

Salāam!

As Salaāmu Alāykum beautiful people!

I pray that whoever reads this is blessed with good health and strong Imaan Insha’Allāh!

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of posting recently, I was caught up with University exams and the stress that accompanies it! However, Alhāmdolilāh now that they are over, I can once again focus on what is important to me .. Our beautiful Deēn Ul Islām ❤

Recently, I have been reading the most thought provoking book The Darqāwi Way — The Letters of Shāykh Mawlāy al-Arābi Ad-Darqāwi and Subhāna’Allāh the amount of times I’ve had to re-read a letter or write down some notes makes me realise how blessed we are, and how grateful we should be for being a part of a beautiful, deep and enriching Deēn! Our Shuyūkh spent their entire lives living Islām, spreading Islām & preserving Islām in its truest and purest forms. May Allāh جل جلاله bless and grant them peace, and reward them abundantly in the Akhirāh! Amēn!

Insha’Allāh I endeavor to share these beneficial counsels of the Shāykh with you all! It is incumbent upon us to share whatever beneficial knowledge we come across with our fellow brethren, our families, our friends, and anyone else we wish well for. Lastly I would like to request that you please keep us in your blessed duās and to keep the Ummāh of the Beloved  in your duās!

Divine Love ﷺ

IMG_20150505_131914

When we’re in love with someone, we want them all to ourselves, we don’t want to share them in any way, and we don’t want anyone else to love them the way we do. This is human love.

Divine love is Allāh ﷻ love for His Most Beloved of creation ﷺ  and He ﷻ commands humanity to love His Beloved the way He ﷻ loves him.

Attach your heart and mind to Allāh ﷻ

Attach your heart and mind to Allāh ﷻ and your entire life turns into worship, even your sleep is worship. And if your heart and mind is not turned towards Allāh ﷻ then even your worship is not accepted, you can spend all night standing in prayer, but it will be futile unless your heart and mind is attached to Allāh ﷻ. Be in the state of Ubudiya at every moment of your life.

— Shāykh Nūh Hā Mīm Keller

Reliance on Allāh ﷻ

If you rely on Allāh ﷻ and truly give up your desires for Him. He will take care of you like the mother of a small baby, who wakes, sleeps, eats, plays and live under his mother’s protection, even when he sleeps, the mother kisses and showers her love on him. That is how Allāh ﷻ is with his Beloved servant.

— Shāykh Nūh Hā Mīm Keller

Shāykh Ahmād Al-‘Alāwi

Shāykh Ahmād Al-‘Alāwi was asked to comment on God’s words “Invoke your Lord when you forget” (Koran 18:24).

“This refers to when you are heedless; as for when you have presence of mind, you must be detached from the invocation and immersed in the Invoked. The purpose of invocation is to bring an end to forgetfulness. Thus, when there is forgetfulness, there must be invocation; and when there is awareness, there will be presence.”

Jumm’āh Mubārak!

One of the most emotional moments on the day of the Battle of Bādr

The Prophet ﷺ was lining up the men, marching in unison, when Sāwaad immediately charged forth towards the Qurāysh. After telling him three times, the Prophet ﷺ ran towards him and poked him in the stomach with an arrow ordering that he get back in line. Sāwaad immediately responded by saying, “You have hurt me oh Messenger of Allāh!”. The Prophet ﷺ then raised his vest and said, “Seek justice!”. Sāwaad then went down, leaned towards him and kissed Rāsul’Allāh’s ﷺ stomach saying, “This is what I wished for! I sensed that today is a day of martyrdom, so I wanted the last thing I touched to be you oh Messenger of Allāh.”

He later passed away that day.

 Jumm’āh Mubārak!

Yā Rāb grant us the Tāwfiq to emulate this love in our lives for Your Beloved ﷺ  Amēn!

Sāyyidina Abu Bākr رضي الله عنه

Sāyyidina Ali رضي الله عنه was once reminiscing the Battle of Uhud and reflected on the sheer bravery demonstrated by Sāyyidina Abu Bākr رضي الله عنه during it. He was then overcome with emotion and raised a cloak which he was wearing, and wept until his beard was wet, and said, “I adjure you, by Allāh! Is the believer of the people of Fir’āwn better, or Abu Bākr?” People were silent. He said, “Will you not answer? By Allāh, an hour of Abu Bākr is better than a thousand hours of the like of the believer of the people of Fir’āwn. He was a man who concealed his imān, and this was a man who was open about his imān.”

— Musnad Imām al-Bāzzar.

The Prophet ﷺ said

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Allāh will bring the believer very close and privately and ask him “Do you know this sin? Do you know that sin? The believers reply will be, “Yes Oh Lord,” until he is reminded about all of his sins, and he thinks he will perish. Then Allāh will say “I covered up your sins during your life, and I will forgive your sins today. Then he will be given his book of good deeds. But the unbelievers and hypocrites will be asked about their deeds loudly in front of the creatures.”

The Darqāwi Way

The-Darqawi-Way

Letter #38

If you wish to obtain what you desire, then bless the noble Prophet ﷺ even if only 100 times a day because a little bit of action which is constant is better than a lot which lapses. Action is only small if the person is based on something other than the Muhāmmadan Sunnāh. If one follows the Sunnāh, then only action is abundant. There is no doubt that the one who holds to the Sunnāh does not miss the prayer on the Prophet ﷺ  even if he does not bless him with his tongue. If he follows his Sunnāh and blesses him with his tongue, then that is light upon light. There is no doubt that the one who clings truly to his Sunnāh blesses him with his entire being. The preoccupied person who is not concerned with the Sunnāh blesses him with his tongue alone rather than with his limbs. A little action in the Sunnāh is better than a lot of action in innovation, so understand! May Allāh give us and you understanding! Cling firmly to this blessed teaching and may Allāh enrich you by it! Amīn.

Peace.
